Bedtime Story — Privacy Policy

The short version
Bedtime Story does not collect, store or share any personal information about you or your child. There are no accounts, no advertising and no third-party advertising, analytics or tracking software inside this app. Every story works offline. Once a day the app sends the studio a few anonymous totals; a grown-up can switch this off (see "Anonymous totals" below).
What the app stores
Only on this device, in the app's own storage: settings (such as sound, night mode and the sleep timer), the child's name if a grown-up types it so it can appear in the stories, favourite stories, recently read stories and the page reached in each story. None of this ever leaves the device. Deleting the app deletes all of it, and a grown-up can clear it at any time from the Grown-ups area.
Anonymous totals
To learn how many children use the app and in which countries, the app sends at most one small message a day to the studio's own server (admin.anubisstudio.net), and only when the device is online. It contains: the app name, whether the device is an iPhone/iPad or Android, the app language, the version number, how many times the app was opened and for how many minutes on the previous days, and whether this is the app's first report ever or this month. The country is worked out from the network on arrival; the network address is not stored. It never contains a name, an account, an advertising or device identifier, the device model, a precise location, the child's name, or anything about the stories that were read. This is on when the app is installed. A grown-up can switch it off at any time in the Grown-ups area's Settings ("Share anonymous counts"). When it is switched off the app sends one last message that only says "switched off", and nothing more.
What the app does not do
- It needs no internet for any story, picture or sound, and sends nothing except the anonymous totals described above.
- It does not ask for or use your location.
- It does not use the microphone, camera, photos, contacts or Bluetooth.
- It does not use an advertising identifier or any other device identifier.
- It does not show advertisements of any kind.
- It does not offer purchases, subscriptions or paid content.
- It does not contain chat, messaging, social features or user-generated content.
- The studio's two links (website and email) appear only in the Grown-ups
area, behind a maths parental gate, and open only after a grown-up taps them. There are no social media links.
Content
All stories, pictures and sounds are written and reviewed in advance and bundled inside the app. Nothing is generated while the app is used.
Children
This app is designed for children aged roughly three to eight. Because it collects no personal data and the totals cannot be linked to anyone, there is nothing to request, correct or delete beyond the on-device data described above, which a grown-up controls.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with its update date.
