Rooh Al-Muslim
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 4 October 2026
Introduction
Rooh Al-Muslim is made by Anubis Studio (Hossam Gamal). This policy explains what data the app collects, why, where it is stored, who can see it and how to delete it. Contact: support@anubisstudio.net
Your use of the app is also governed by the Terms of Use.
Account and device identifier
- The app does not ask for an email, phone number or password. On first launch an anonymous Firebase Authentication account is created, together with an app ID derived from the device identifier (IDFV on iPhone, Android ID on Android).
- Your profile on our servers (Google Firebase Firestore) stores: platform, device type, model, name and OS version, app version, language, time zone, creation and last-active dates, and notification settings, and the install source (store). We use these to run the service and notifications and to fix problems.
Location
- Location is requested only with your permission, to calculate prayer times and the Qibla direction. You can decline and enter your city manually.
- While prayer notifications are on, your profile on our servers stores the coordinates of the prayer location saved in the app (latitude, longitude and city name) — whether they come from your device's location or from a city you chose manually — together with your prayer-time settings (calculation method, madhab, adjustments, adhan sound, time zone). We use them to send backup prayer notifications from our server if the on-device alert fails, and to choose the language and country of general notifications.
- Whenever you set your location (from the device or manually), your profile stores only your country (code and name, no coordinates or city), to choose the language and country of general notifications.
- When you turn off prayer notifications (or all notifications) in the app, the coordinates and city name are deleted from our servers and the server's backup adhan stops. They are also deleted when the account is moved to a new phone, until that phone sends its own location.
- To calculate prayer times and the Qibla and to turn coordinates into a city name, the app sends the coordinates (without any identifier) to Aladhan (api.aladhan.com), OpenStreetMap Nominatim, and your device's own geocoding service (Apple or Google).
Name, honor board and comments
- Entering a name is optional (during onboarding or in Settings). Names pass a profanity filter, and rejected names are not accepted.
- If you enter a name, it is shown publicly on the honor board with your monthly points and rank, and in the monthly winners list for up to 12 months. The contest rules and the prize are in "Monthly Honor Board contest" below.
- Monthly points are calculated from the worship you log (prayers, Quran reading, completed khatmas, adhkar, tasbih, fasting and opening the app) and stored in your profile.
- Comments, replies and likes on stories are public under your display name. Any comment can be reported; we review reports and remove violations.
Monthly Honor Board contest
- Organizer: the monthly Honor Board contest is organized by Anubis Studio (Hossam Gamal), the developer of Rooh Al-Muslim.
- Who can enter: every user of the app takes part automatically and for free, with no sign-in. Only users who choose a public display name appear on the board and can win; choosing a name is entirely optional.
- How points are earned: points come from worship you log in the app: prayers, Quran reading, completed khatmas, adhkar, tasbih, fasting and opening the app. Points cannot be purchased, and no paid feature adds points.
- Contest period: each round is one full Gregorian month, Cairo time. Each round ends at midnight Cairo time on the last day of the month, and final results are announced at 12:01 AM Cairo time on the 2nd of the next month.
- Prize: the winning places (their number is shown on the "Contest rules" screen in the app) get free Premium features for one month, from the announcement until the next winners are announced. The prize has no cash value and cannot be transferred or exchanged.
- How winners are notified: winners are notified with an in-app notification when results are announced, and their display names appear on the Honor Board.
- Ties: users with equal points share the same place and all win, including a tie for the last winning place. Whoever reached the total first is listed first.
- Disqualification: we may disqualify any account or cancel its prize if we suspect cheating or manipulated points. Implausible scores are reviewed by hand before any prize is granted.
- Apple and Google are not sponsors of, nor involved in, this contest in any way.
- What is shown publicly: the Honor Board shows everyone your display name, your monthly points and your rank, and the winners list keeps them for up to 12 months. Nothing else about you is shown, and you can remove your name in Settings at any time to leave the board.
Notifications
- If you allow notifications, we store your device's push token (notifications are sent directly via Google FCM on Android and Apple APNs on iOS; legacy Expo push tokens are still supported for older versions of the app). We use it for backup prayer alerts, reminders, general announcements from the app, winner alerts and update alerts. You can turn them off in the app or device settings.
- Local reminders (azkar, daily portion, alarm) are scheduled on your device.
Statistics and crashes
- Daily counts linked to your account (in Firestore): how many times you opened the app and did azkar, reading, prayer, tasbih and khatma, with your last activity (such as the surah name). Deleted automatically after 180 days.
- Notification delivery diagnostics (in Firestore, linked to your account): counts of scheduled, delivered and opened notifications and their delivery rates, and your device manufacturer and how strictly it limits background apps. We use this to find and fix adhan alerts that don't arrive. Deleted with your account.
- Lifetime totals (worship and usage totals since install) are stored in your profile so the app can show them to you, and are deleted with your account.
- An anonymous daily summary to the studio server (admin.anubisstudio.net): app, platform, language, version, minutes and sessions. It contains no identifier.
- Crash reports: error message, screen trail, OS type and version, app version and your app ID. Kept for up to 60 days; a copy without the ID goes to the studio server.
- We do not use Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics or any third-party analytics tool.
Questions, suggestions and contributions
- Ask a scholar: we store the name (optional) and email you type and your question, together with your account ID and push token (if any) so we can tell you when it is answered.
- Islamic assistant: it answers from an on-device library first. If it can't, the question text is sent to our server with your account ID and push token (no name or email); the server searches public scholarly sources (such as islamweb, islamqa and dorar) and may use public translation and search services.
- Suggestions and contributions: we store the suggestion or note text and your display name if you choose to show it. A "prayer times correction" also stores the city, coordinates, the calculated times and your mosque's times as you entered them, so we can review the calculation method.
Purchases and premium
- Purchases go through the Apple App Store or Google Play; we never see payment details. We verify every purchase on our server (Apple and the Google Play Developer API) before activating it, and store the product, order and transaction IDs, platform, store country and expiry date.
- For premium users, worship logs (prayer, fasting, Quran, azkar, tasbih, khatmas) are backed up automatically to your account on our servers so you can restore them.
- Worship logs are data about your religious practice. We use them only to restore them for you and to calculate your points; we never share them or use them for advertising.
- Full cloud backup (premium): when you ask for it on the backup page, a copy of the app's data and your settings (without device-specific keys or sign-in data) is uploaded to Firebase Storage, with its metadata (date, device name, size) in Firestore. Only your account can read it, each new backup replaces the previous one, and it is deleted when you delete your account.
- Moving your account to a new phone: the app creates a backup file that you keep, containing a transfer code valid for 48 hours and for one use; our servers store only its fingerprint (SHA-256). When the file is restored on the new phone, your account (name, points and granted premium) and your cloud backup move there and no longer stay on the old phone. The code is deleted from our servers as soon as it is used or when you ask for a new one, and it is refused once it expires. Do not share this file with anyone.
Advertising
- The app shows ads from Google AdMob (not shown to premium subscribers). Ads are capped at a "T" rating and are never shown over Quran or adhan screens.
- Personalized ads only with your consent: in the EEA, UK and Switzerland we show Google's consent form (UMP) before any ad. On iPhone, ads are non-personalized unless you allow tracking (ATT). On Android, ads may be personalized using the advertising ID; you can turn this off in your device's Google settings.
- AdMob may process the advertising ID, IP address (for approximate location), device type and ad interactions to serve and measure ads and prevent fraud. See Google's policy: https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads
- You can change your choice at any time from "Ad privacy" in the app's settings, from "Allow Tracking" in iPhone settings, or from Google's ad settings on Android.
Content from external services
The app loads recitations, radio, translations, images and video from public services (such as everyayah, quranicaudio, mp3quran, qurango, islamic.network, alquran.cloud, quran.com, sunnah.com, archive.org, radiojar, Pexels, Unsplash, YouTube, Vimeo, jsDelivr, GitHub, Google News and Google Calendar). Text from the app's own content (never what you type) may be sent to public machine-translation services (MyMemory, LibreTranslate and Lingva) to show it in your language. These services only see your device's IP address.
Permissions
- Location (while in use): prayer times and Qibla.
- Notifications and exact alarms: adhan and reminders.
- Microphone (optional): requested only to record your recitation in memorization mode and play it back. Your recordings are kept only on your device, in «My recordings», until you delete them; they are never uploaded to any server, and they are all removed when you delete the app.
- Full-screen alarms (Android): only for the Fajr and suhoor alarms you set, to show the ring screen over the lock screen. Adhan and other notifications never open full screen.
- Battery optimization exemption (Android, with your approval): so the system does not stop the app and delay the adhan or reminders.
- Background audio playback service (Android): to play the adhan, recitations and radio with the screen off or the app in the background, with a visible notification while playing.
- Compass and sensors: Qibla direction and some tools.
- Save photos (add only): saving share images to your photo library.
- Tracking on iPhone (ATT): personalized ads only if you allow it.
- The app does not request access to contacts, camera or calendar.
Health data
The app does not access any health data and does not integrate with Google Fit or Apple Health.
Data sharing
We do not sell your data. It is stored on Google Firebase (Google Cloud) servers under our account, and shared only with the service providers listed above to the extent needed for each feature, or when required by law.
Security and retention
- Data is sent encrypted (HTTPS). Daily counts are deleted after 180 days and crash reports after 60 days. Other account data is kept until you delete your account, when it is deleted immediately (see "Your rights and data deletion").
Your rights and data deletion
- Delete your account in the app (immediate): Settings → Danger Zone → Delete Account → Delete Permanently. Once you confirm, our server immediately deletes your profile, your prayer settings and the Firebase account itself, then automatically removes the rest of the data linked to your account in the background (usually within minutes): your display name and points, daily counts and statistics, backups, questions, suggestions and contributions, comments, replies and likes, crash reports linked to your ID, and your push token. The app's data is then wiped from your device and the app starts with a new identity. Deletion needs an internet connection; if it fails on the server, nothing is deleted from your device and you can try again.
- What we keep after deletion: the store purchase record, detached from your account (so you can restore your purchases), moderation ban decisions, and aggregate statistics that do not identify you.
- If you can't access the app (for example, after uninstalling it): email support@anubisstudio.net with your display name or any details that help us find your account, and we will delete your data within 30 days. Details: Delete your account.
- You can revoke location, notification or tracking permission at any time in your device settings, and edit or remove your name in Settings.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you learn that a child has sent us data, contact us and we will delete it.
